posted Nov 27, 2017, 8:09 AM by Columbine Figure Skating

All Columbine Families are invited to join us in a celebration of the holidays.
We will be having a chili themed pot-luck and hot chocolate. Join us for a pot-luck starting at 5:30pm.
There will be skating from 5:45-6:45pm and plenty of time to enjoy the company of our fellow skaters. We will decorate cookies together and play some fun holiday games. Bring the whole family, dressed in their holiday best (or worst) for a fun evening of skating and comraderie.

Register now for the 2017 Halloween Exhibition

posted Aug 24, 2017, 10:08 AM by Columbine Figure Skating

Registration is now open for the 2017 Halloween Exhibition, Friday, October 27 at 6:00pm at Apex.

The 2017 Halloween Exhibition Skate is open to all skaters, with priority given to Columbine Figure Skating Club (CFC) members who register by September 1st.  Registration for members is $15 per routine (the same fee will apply for duets), $30 for non-members.
Register on the Home Page of our website at columbineskating.org
Skaters may perform a program selected by their coach that meets the requirements of an artistic program (typically 1:30 min).  Props will be allowed as long as the skater can handle it by themselves and setup takes no more than 20 seconds. Skaters are responsible for all coaching, costume, and prop expenses.

We need and greatly appreciate our volunteers!  Volunteers are needed for setting up/breaking down, registration desk, etc.  Please email Trish at  trish6750@hotmail.com to volunteer. Thank you!

Order your Club Jacket Soon!

posted Jul 20, 2017, 10:30 AM by Columbine Figure Skating

Would you like a customized Columbine club jacket? Now is your chance to order one! We are currently accepting orders for Columbine jackets. These will include the club logo on the back (see attached photo) and your name on the front. Jackets are available to skaters, coaches, parents, and supporters of Columbine Figure Skating Club.

Here's how it works:
  1. Email columbineskating@gmail.com to let us know that you are in. We plan to place the order by the end of next week, July 28.
  2. Purchase a blank jacket of your choice, we recommend black, but I saw some very cute purple jackets in the Target girl's section last weekend. Be careful of very thin (t-shirt like) material as it may pucker or pull with the larger embroidery on the back.
  3. Put the jacket with a check for $50, payable to Columbine Figure Skating Club, in the Columbine Box at Apex. Please make sure you label it or put it in a bag with your name on it so we know it's yours.
  4. Send me an email to let me know your jacket and check are there. Include the name you would like embroidered on the front of the jacket. Typically this is your first name.
  5. Give us about 3 weeks to get them embroidered. This includes the club logo on the back and your name on the front.
  6. Wear with pride.

"Figure It Out" skating event coming to Apex July 30

posted Jul 20, 2017, 10:25 AM by Columbine Figure Skating

Skaters,

Mark your calendars!  On Sunday, July 30th from 10am to 1pm the World Figure Organization is hosting a figures workshop at Apex Ice Arena.  Columbine Figure Skating club is a proud sponsor of this event! The workshop called "Figure It Out" is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the grass roots of skating and get out on the ice and make some beautiful figure 8s and specialty patterns. First timers are welcome.

Figures was a required component of skating from its start, all the way up to the '90s.  It is considered a great skill builder for skaters, helping them learn to use the entire blade and all of the various edges.  It also builds core strength.

This event is open to all skaters and will include a workshop - time to practice and develop these skills - and will be followed by an optional exam and a competition for those interested.  Visit the website, talk to your coach or Nancy Grieder for more information.

We also want you to mark your calendars for September 28th through October 1st when the 2017 World Figure & Fancy Skating Championships World Junior and World Skating Festival will be held in Vail, CO.  It was just announced that Olympic Champion Dorothy Hamill will be a Special Guest and Honorary Referee.

Congrats to our skaters who participated in the Vail Invitational
